Mario Testino, the Peruvian London-based photographer, has recently joined forces with Net-a-Porter for the creation of the capsule collection: Mario Testino for MATE. This is an exclusive 40-piece limited-edition collection of bags, accessories, scarves, t-shirts and kaftans, with 17 vintage dresses handcrafted in Peru and accessories made by Vicki Beamon.
The prints used by Testino are an abstract artwork extracted from his photographs “Alta Moda” exhibited in MATE. These photographs are a direct view of Testino’s Peru, with a raw look at how vivid and powerful colors capture ethnic shapes. The products feature vibrant digitally printed patterns and colors that transcend us to a Latin American atmosphere from the Peruvian culture, capturing it’s essence in detail and giving us the opportunity (if we purchase one of these items) to really wear art. The prices range from $150 for clutches, $210 for t-shirts and $280 for kaftans.
This collection will support the Peruvian culture as 20% of the profits are going to MATE – Testino’s institution. MATE (not-for-profit culture organization) was founded by Testino in 2012 in his hometown of Lima, Peru. MATE is located in a 4000 sq mt mansion house that functions as an art foundation where his biggest collection is exhibited alongside a permanent collection of other Peruvian artists.
The collection will be available at Net-a-Porter.com by early June. Do not miss this opportunity to own one of these unique pieces and also support a worthy cause.
