We are giving a standing ovation to the latest Paris Fashion Week as the best closure for the Autumn/Winter Fashion Week’s parade. Unpredictable collections and fearless runways from 95 shows in 9 sunny days (seriously it was sunny almost all the week!) seem giving a new breath to fashion. From the vivid colors and pattern burst, urban chic craze, to leather fever, the designers were competing to impress the fashion scene while trying to sell garments. To keep you up to date, here are our picks of the most memorable and decisive trends to note from this season.
Key trend 1: Chic Metallic
We already saw these trends on the last Spring/Summer, but they are back with new innovation and trés chic deconstructive design: thanks to Gareth Pugh and bravo spectacle for Kaiser Karl with Chanel candy colored “grocery” collection.
Chance to-be ‘it’ collection: 90% (Hyper cool! Though, it could make you look tacky if you wear it head to toe. To nail it, match it with other heavy materials, like suede or tweed).
Key trend 2: A-Line & empire combo
A-line silhouette is spotted a lot on the runways. Comes with the complimentary of deep V-Neck, this style is seriously sexy.
Chance to-be ‘it’ collection: 100% (Everybody loves A-line silhouette! Ultra feminine, elegant, and fits all type of body).
Key trend 3: Huge prints
Surprise! Surprise! This winter is also full of prints. Seems like the prints are not just for summer, but also for the winter. Florals, polkadots, graphics, and lines are coming in huge sizes, vivid colors, and some of them in a somber mood.
Chance to-be ‘it’ collection: 70% (Everybody loved what Prada did on her mural’s collection last season and no reason to not extend the success. However, some body types could go wrong with big prints).
Key Trend 4: Leather fever
Be it crocodile or calfskin. Seems like the designers are playing with luxe-leather and exploring the technique not only on the bags or accessories but also on coats and dresses. They come yet in plain colors, or innovative patchwork and colors.
Chance to-be ‘it’ collection: 80% (20% for animal-right activists).
Key Trend 5: Cape
Chance to-be ‘it’ collection: 100% (Now we have reason to take our fashionable “blanket” out. This item is not just gives us a fashionable touch in a flash, but also hides the winter belly).
Voila! This season Paris Fashion Week brings a new vibe in terms of color and spirit. Usually the autumn/winter collections are monochromatic, dark, and gloomy. On the contrary, this season delivers new definition of winter and brings a positive spirit through fashion and design. Not just that, fashion this time also takes role as a reflection to the society and social change, like what Karl Lagerfeld did with Chanel “grocery shop” as talking about fast-fashion and consumerism. Let’s just see what else that the fashion could bring to us in the next upcoming season.
