Paris is currently being hit hard by an influx of brands telling us exactly where their loyalties lie – in the hoods of Paris. Are you more of a Rive Droite or Rive Gauche? Or are you a Pigalle player or a Sacre Coeur sister? Here are the details you need to know before you make that crucial fashion decision…
RIVE DROITE/ RIVE GAUCHE
The Rive Droite and Rive Gauche slogans originate from the brand Pavé on the Ground that was launched in 2013 by born and bred Parisians Nacim and Matthieu. By living and working in the city where they grew up, they thought it was logical and natural to present something that represents their hometown. Believing that Paris is so much more than just a tourist site, their brand offers an eclectic mix of culture, art, and of course, Parisian identity. The Rive Droite/ Rive Gauche logo tees are just one aspect of their collections. One can also purchase t-shirts with photographs of the city we all love embedded on to high-quality fabrics. This brand represents the ‘Paris of those who invigorate it’ and goes far beyond any touristy tee.
Inspired by urban style, Parisian chic and touches of New York edge, the Belleville Hills collection forms part of No/One Paris. The brand, launched at the beginning of 2012, offers a cool selection of quality jumpers, jackets, and t-shirts for both men and women. Paris Nord, l’anti Rive Gauche, le vrai Paris
Their tag line pretty much says it all. Paris Nord, both the brand and the place, delivers one of the most authentic images of Paris. Far away from the bright and expensive lights of the Rive Gauche, it represents the young, raw, and natural side of Paris. Their clothing is all 100% eco-friendly and bears the Paris Nord tag. SACRE COEUR PARIS
The Sacre Coeur t-shirts and hoodies hail from the ‘La happy Wave’ project, which is all about theatre, film novels, ideas, slogans, and creativity. The Sacre Coeur emblem, now available on t-shirts and jumpers, began as a tag in the same font as the Disneyland logo on the streets of Paris. This resulted in hundreds of people taking the image and spreading it across social media sites. From here on we can see the classic Sacre Coeur image on bodies across Paris.

Last but certainly not least the originator of the Paris tagged tees comes from the uber cool district of Pigalle. Launched in 2008 by Stéphane Ashpool, the Parisian label has done and is doing extremely well for itself. Its ‘Pigalle’ branded t-shirts have been seen on the likes of rapper A$AP Rocky and the one and only Rihanna. As well as offering its own label, it also contains shoes and accessories from Japan, Europe, and the United Sates.
