5 Cool Scandinavian Brands you didn’t know about

The Scandinavian fashion scene has a lot to offer. With a minimalistic style, it focuses on a clean aesthetic and good quality. The designers aim to present a unique and individual style. I’ve put together a list of five interesting Scandinavian brands for you to watch out for.

  1. Saks Potts

A Copenhagen-based womenswear brand, established by two young girls, Barbara Potts and Cathrine Saks. It all started with fur coats, but now their collections include a wide range of clothing. The Saks Potts style is avant-garde and uses a combination of different textures and interesting colors.

  1. Filippa K

Filippa K was founded in 1993, by Filippa Knutsson and Patrik Kihlborg. This Swedish brand is currently one of the top leading brands in Scandinavia, with strong position in long lasting fashion. With simple and minimalistic characteristics, Filippa K designs focus on a clean aesthetic and high quality.

Another Swedish brand, Altewaisaome was founded by Natalia Altewai and Randa Saome in 2009. Their designs combine clean and minimalistic lines with a monochrome colour palette. Altewaisaome mixes their fabrics to create unique details in their pieces. This brand is one of the most talked about on the Scandinavian fashion scene.

A Finnish design company, Marimekko is well known for its original prints and colour variations. The products include clothing, bags and accessories as well as home décor items ranging from textiles to tableware. Marimekko was founded in 1951 and has created a strong and unique identity because of their fabric prints. Recently Marimekko renewed their look and have become of high interest for the younger consumer.

  1. Henrik Vibskov

The name Henrik Vibskov is not only associated with the fashion label, but also a multitude of twisted and tantalising universes created in relation to each collection. The designer Henrik Vibskov graduated from Central St. Martins in 2001 and as a member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine he is currently the only Scandinavian designer on the official show schedule of the Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
