The Perfect Anti-Valentine’s Day

If you are tired of watching teenage couples kissing in the streets, seeing everything in pink and red in the shops with heart-shaped logos, reading all kinds of Valentine’s day related articles on your favorites websites, and listening to all your taken friends buying gifts for their special someone? Then what follows will most certainly interest you! Keep reading.


Put your phone on plane mode, or just avoid social media. A little digital detox is always a good idea once in a while, and it’s probably all you need on this beautiful Sunday morning.



Take a few minutes in the morning to meditate. Be grateful for what you have. If you’re reading this that means you have a laptop or a smartphone, so it automatically means that you have a roof under your head. Always remember that the earth is populated with homeless people that live under a bridge or sleep in the subway. Do they care about Valentines’s day ? No, they are just trying to survive. Be aware of how lucky you are and always focus on the positive things in life.

A good way to put things into perspective, is to read inspirational quotes, there’s plenty of “feel good” and “be the best version of yourself” quotes out there.

Break a sweat

Possibly the best thing ever to feel good (better) and to kick this day off on the right foot. Take a fun Zumba class, or an intense body combat course (best thing if you’re angry). If you don’t have a gym membership, no worries there are tons and tons of workout videos on YouTube.

Treat yourself

But in a healthy way, you really don’t want to eat your feelings. You can find plenty of good ideas on Pinterest, plus they’re always pretty.

Try something new

Always wanted a new tattoo, piercing or haircut ? This is probably the best day to get out of your comfort zone and explore your opinions.

Open a bottle of wine and play some funny games, like Time’s Up or Heads Up. Laugher guaranteed.

You can also watch a horror movie. If you feel sad this is probably the best way to get better. You ask why? It’s pretty simple: fear is a feeling that takes everything from you, from the good emotions to the bad, when you are afraid it’s all you can feel and even afterwards you’ll still be scared and won’t think of your sadness anymore.

But most importantly, don’t forget: this day is all about YOU, so make the most of it.
