My experience at Opening Ceremony showroom
During Paris Fashion Week, I had the chance to work at a showroom for the American brand Opening Ceremony, which is also a department store based in New York. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon founded the New-York based brand in 2002. The two founders left their respective jobs to pursue their fashion dream. Today, Opening Ceremony is a worldwide brand with stores in New York, Los Angeles, a department store in Tokyo and many showrooms (four times a year in Paris and New York). Opening Ceremony is always presenting their new collections at the New York Fashion Week, making the brand trustworthy. It was therefore an overwhelming and stimulating experience to work for Opening Ceremony and getting familiar with their Autumn Winter 2016-2017 collection
It was a first time experience to work in a showroom and I loved it. Opening Ceremony had this showroom organized specially for international buyers. They would have appointments all day with different customers and my job was to welcome them, proposing tea or coffee and a little something to eat. Then the customer with the help of a staff would go through the collection and pick a few outfits or garments. A model would then try them on, my job here was to help the model get dressed and sort out all the outfits ready to put back on the racks. Keeping the showroom tidy and clean is very important because this is what the customer sees first, so another job I had to do was to maintain the showroom tidy.
I enjoyed working for the company because it enabled me to discover a new brand I hadn’t heard of before. The collection was very interesting and I must admit there were a few garments I would have purchased myself. I particularly loved their new collection because the practical needs of a woman have been thought of. Some garments are very comfortable to wear (according to the model) they are warm, cozy and yet still elegant and fashionable. The fabrics used by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon are well thought off to satisfy the active woman of tomorrow. Comfortable garments for her working day and graceful clothes for her evening look. You should definitely check this brand out!
