Krikor Jabotian, a young and fresh Lebanese/Armenian designer, got his big break when American actress Regina King accepted her Emmy award wearing one of his designs. She looked great in one of Jabaotian’s famous embellished ankle length gowns, that became highly requested after that event. “We are thrilled to have our first Hollywood appearance by an award winner. The first day I didn’t really understand what was happening. The second day I understood how big this was, It’s created a lot of exposure and buzz for us; a lot of people were requesting the dress afterwards,” Jabotian said to “Lebanon Traveler Magazine.”
Graduating from L’Ecole Superieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Beirut, Jabotian worked first at Elie Saab’s creative department. After gaining experience and skills to work in the fashion industry, Jabotian decided to become an independent designer. He started his Haute Couture Brand in Beirut, “Krikor Jabotian” named after himself.
With great competition and high risks of loss, especially when it comes to making a strong impact in the fashion industry, Jabotian is maintaining a strong identity helping him imprint his name around.
With inspirations from Elie Saab, CHANEL, and Valentino, Jabotian was able to find his own niche, merging the art of heavy embroidery with simplicity. Garments that come alive with elegance, poise and volume became his signature and his unique leverage in the industry. His intricately embellished dresses topped with simple and plain fabrics give them an overall glamour and royal look and are every stylists’ delight.
Also, his line extends to jewelry that compliments his garments, consisting of floral-shaped head pieces and broché designs. Jabotian’s artistic uniqueness has given him much success. Apart from celebrities like Regina King, he has also dressed Queen Rania of Jordan, which is a big stepping stone for a young talent promising much more success in the near future.
Krikor Jabotian, although still a new entrant in the design and haute couture world, is showing much potential with his exceptional skills. His future in the industry shows auspicious achievement. The only anticipations would be him taking on European markets and emerging ones as well. We wish him the best of luck !!
