Create your own Gucci with the new ‘DIY’ Program

The Italian fashion house Gucci is launching a new service where you can create your own bag! “Gucci DIY” enables you to create your very own Dionysus, the label’s iconic handbag these days. The concept debuted in the Gucci flagship store in Milan and will roll out globally soon.

Gucci DIY

This do-it-yourself project is inspired from Alessandro Michele’s philosophy. Gucci’s creative director believe that customers should feel authentic and free in the way they express themselves. So now you can let your inner designer skills unfold hand in hand with one of the world’s largest fashion houses.

For now the DIY project is only available for the Dionysus bag, which can be decorated with a wide array of embroideries, hardware materials and monograms. Embroideries are part of Michele’s growing Gucci garden, and therefore offer everything from butterflies, bees and snakes, to roses and peonies. The bag materials consist of python, crocodile and suede in a variety of colours. And as an icing on the cake, it is possible to get your initials embedded in Swarovski stones, also available in various colours.

As of now, the service is only available in the flagship store in Milan, but will be present in fashion-oriented cities around the world soon. The project will expand as well to the Gucci Ace Sneakers, Princetown shoes, men‘s and women’s ready-to-wear and men’s made-to order. While exact pricing hasn’t been revealed, the “Do it yourself” label may give us an indicator, since the brand’s pre-embroidered Dionysius bags are sold at prices between 3.000 € – 3.400 €. We love the concept of doing it ourselves, and this project makes it easy to dream about having a bag with your own personal style.
