On The Streets of Paris

What fascinates me about fashion is the way people utilise it by creating their own individual style. It creates a sense of personality and uniqueness that can be expressed in their daily life. Personally, I think the past and current experiences and surroundings play a part in how people decide to dress every day.

I decided to explore this topic further by interviewing people on the streets of Paris, one of the fashion capitals of the world, and, who I thought, had a unique and different style.

How does your personalimg_8509_srgbity and background influence your style?

My mother has always loved to dress up and find interesting pieces and styles to add to her wardrobe. I do the same thing and I guess I get this from her. But, I like to do my own style that is inspired by famous designers and clothing brands. I don’t spend much on clothes. I just like to be casual with an add of original flair.

How would you describe your style?

My style? Haha. It’s very sober-casual-street style. I am wearing a lot of black and long clothes. I like to wear loose things (t-shirts, jeans, sweaters) and I often add one other piece of article that I find unique and original, for example, my shoes, my jacket and my bag.

Does being or living in Paris play a big part in how you dress?

Oh yes! In Paris, you are much more influenced by how people dress. Not really by their style, but more so regarding the details on every outfit and the way they pay attention to the way they’re dressed every day. It makes me want to wear nice clothes, to have a personal style and pay attention to how I look when I go out. When I lived in Boston, it was hard for me to follow a real look because the people around me didn’t pay as much attention to what they were wearing, compared to Paris.

Do you know first hand what brands you’re currently wearing?

I am currently wearing a black neck long tee from Monki. Leggings from Adidas Neo. My jacket is a prototype of Kway. It is made from teddy bear skin. Haha (very fluffy). And my glasses are Jimmy Fairly’s.

Tell me one trend that you love and one that you hate.

At the moment a trend I like is street- skater-ish style… but for girls! I like wearing black boyfriend jeans with a very loose simple black tee and a long dark rain coat with low Dr. Martens and a choker as an accessory. I don’t like the super chic style. It’s not my thing at all because I always like to wear things in a quirky and original way. So too chic, for me, is boring.

Well, before, I was really interested and influenced by Taylor Manson. These days I don’t have a specific influence. Now I just like to wear whatever I like.

How would you describe your style?

I would say Punk and Chic.

Does being or living in Paris play a big part in how you dress?

No, not really. I’ve always had this style even before I moved to Paris!

Do you know first hand what brands you’re currently wearing?

I’m currently wearing Zara, The Kooples, Demonia, and of course Vivienne Westwood.

Tell me one trend that you love and one that you hate.

I really like the punk trend (as you can tell) ….but I don’t like the hipster trend.

How does your personality and background influence your style?

I usually just wear whatever I like.

How would you describe your style?

Colourful.

Does being or living in Paris play a big part in how you dress?

Yes, because there is a lot of cool stuff to buy. Paris has plenty of vintage stores which is where I usually buy my clothes.

Do you know first hand what brands you’re currently wearing?

My t-shirt is Monki, but the rest I found in vintage stores.

Tell me one trend that you love and one that you hate.

I’m a fan of prints like the shirt I’m currently wearing. I don’t like anything that is faded – faded jeans for example.

How does your personality and background influence your style?

I’m from Los Angeles and I studied fashion, so of course, this had an influence on how I like to dress. In LA, their streetwear is pretty urban, so I think that is where I get a lot of my influence from. And of course, magazines! As a fashion student, it’s important to keep up to date with the fashion world.

How would you describe your style?

Forever changing! Haha. I would say it depends on my mood, so there’s a lot of variety on what I wear depending on the day.

Does being or living in Paris play a big part in how you dress?

Of course. I’m just visiting, but it’s Paris. It would essentially take less time and effort for me to get ready for the day in LA than it would here in Paris. It seems that girls wear black tights a lot. Back home that’s not very common. I would just throw on a t-shirt, shorts or pants and leave the home.

Tell us one trend that you love.

I love the 90’s trend. I’m also a burlesque dancer so I love when it’s also sexy and carefree.

I don’t really have a specific style, so I don’t really know! I like to wear what makes me feel comfortable with ready to wear type of clothing. But I do look at magazines like Vogue to get some inspiration.

How would you describe your style?

I would consider my style to be pretty basic. Maybe an urban edge with a classic twist.

Does being or living in Paris play a big part in how you dress?

No, not really. Haha. Not more so than other cities.

Tell us one trend that you love and one that you hate.

There isn’t a specific “trend” that I love or hate. But I can tell you some brands that I do like, such as: Zara, H&M and Bershka. I’m fond of ready to wear clothing which makes it easier for me to choose my outfit for the day. A brand I dislike is Desigual.
