Some of the Best Cafes in Paris to Check Out

Paris, as they say, is the City of Lights and the City of Love. But after moving here, as an international student, I realized that Paris is so much more than what the textbooks say. Other than the obvious things, such as French baguettes, cheese (fromage) and wine, you cannot forget the coffee.

Coffee is such an integral part of the daily life of all Parisians, that it has almost become a ritual. But when you have a café on each corner of the street,  having to choose one from a pool of others is a really daunting task for a newcomer.

Here is my version of the best cafes in Paris you should check out.

1) Ten Belles – 10 Rue de la Grange aux Belles, 75010 Paris.

Located opposite of the Canal St. Martin, this tiny little shop is best known for its thick hot chocolate. They also specialize in English scones, simple lunch, cakes and jam too. But space is small so you can actually sit by the canal and relish your coffee.

2) Boot Café – 19 Rue du Pont aux Choux, 75003 Paris.

This cafe might be the smallest in Paris. Opened in 2014, it has been gaining popularity since then. They serve some of the finest coffee in Paris and their beans are from the famous Belleville Brulerie.

3) Fondation Cafe – 16 Rue Dupetit-Thouars, 75003 Paris.

Just around the area of Square du Temple, this one is a great place for a quick friendly hangout. They even serve iced versions of different types of coffee in the summers which are usually a rare find in Paris.

4.) Cafe Oberkampf – 3 Rue Neuve Popincourt, 75011 Paris.

One of the most popular cafes in Paris, this one is best known for its little knick knacks too, because they serve weekly toasties alongside cakes, cookies and muesli and of course great  coffee.

5.) Café Kitsuné – 51 Galerie de Montpensier, 75001 Paris.

Founded by the fashion brand Kitsune, this cafe is an absolute gem in the heart of Paris. Located in the fashionable and glamorous area of Palais Royal, often frequented by the who’s who of the Parisian fashion scene. And their chai latte, hot chocolate, and coffees are to die for and totally Instagram-worthy.

So now that you have a better idea about some of the cafes, it’s time go check them out and see which one you prefer the most.

And as they say “But first …Coffee!”
