5 Festivals to Look Forward to in Europe!

Nothing is more exciting than spending your last few months of spring and moving forward to the bright summer time euphoria. To prepare you for sunshine-in-your-hair days, it is important to do some research of world’s best festivals you can attend in Europe. Saving your time, we shortlisted some for you!

1. Art Basel

One of the most prestigious art festivals in the world, the remarkable Art Basel is coming back in June, precisely from the 15th to the 18th. Basel has gained its reputation of being a leading creative hub in Europe and will continue to impress art enthusiasts with more than 291 galleries participating from 34 countries. Switzerland is much known for its breathtaking snow capped mountains, I agree, but why not take a detour once to one of the most anticipated art fairs where you can take inspirations from?

2. La Tomatina

Originated from the Valencia region in Spain, La Tomatina can be a fun way to fight against the summer heat with travellers all over the world. Some people may find it gross, but the idea of getting together with strangers and bringing out your inner child can do no harm. Held on the last Wednesday of August, the city of Buñol is full of people throwing tomatoes at each other for 1 hour. Then the alarm goes off to mark the end of the tomato fight. It reminds me of the Songkran Water Festival in Thailand, but this time you will see lots and lots of red paste everywhere. This quirky festival might be a new experience to try!

3. Secret Garden Party

A highly unusual party is making another comeback this year in Abbots Ripton, United Kingdom. Set in a real farmer’s garden, the festival merges music, art and culture all together. While the theme might be very laid back, the line-ups are always up-to-date and well selected. Sadly, this year is the last season of SGP, so we highly advise you to check them out.

4. Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence

Since 1948, this festival has been feeding the appetite of Opera and classical music enthusiasts in various locations around the marvelous Aix-en-Provence. Operas like Carmen, Pinocchio, The Rake’s Progress among many others are now open for sale. If you’re not into operas, do attend the musical concerts, workshops and talk shows to get a glimpse of this event with your loved ones or yourself, merge with the beautiful town scenery and create connections with new people and places!

5. Ultra Festival Europe 2017

EDM Music aficionados, I hope you’re ready for the most anticipated DJ line-up such as Afrojack. Alesso, Markus Schulz and DJ Snake (and many, many more) this year in Split, Croatia. It is Ultra Festival’s 4th year since the start of Europe branching in 2013 and this time they are warming up your summer days from the 14th to the 16th of July.
