Must-have shoes for summer

It is never too early to get your summer wardrobe ready and set. Often the shoes are the trickiest part. Should grown–up and independent women really wear ballet flats? Do gladiator sandals make me look like a creature from Ancient Rome?

We bring light into the darkness and present this season’s styles of shoes that even upgrade a basic combo of denim shorts and a white shirt.

1.Mules

Open heel and closed front: These candy pink Prada mules come with an extra pointy toe. For the peep toe version we recommend this orange model by Sam Edelman (right picture).

2. Espadrilles

Espadrilles come as wedges or flats, but the fanciest version is the one with the extra strap wrapped around the ankle as seen at See by Chloé (left picture). Secret tip for great summer sandals à la blogger Julie Sariñana: the American brand Soludos. Two years ago we also introduced the Spanish Espadrilles brand Feitales on the blog.

3. Slides

Major favorites of bloggers and streetstyle celebrities are the iconic Gucci horsebit slides. Get them either with extra fur, colorful patterns, studds or in a plain black version.

4. Adilette Slides & Birkenstock

Two brands that already dressed the fashionistas’ feet last year are the German brands Adidas and Birkenstock. Some people might rather conncect the Adidas rubber slides with a trip to the beach or sauna and the Birkenstock slides with house shoes, however, they are absolutely wearable with your everyday city look!
