Erdem X H&M: Ultra-Luxe Fast Fashion for This Winter

It’s not new to see a designer brand collaborate with a mass clothes retailer. Therefore, it definitely requires extra surprise and stories to trigger public attention. And this time again, H&M succeeded in that: finding the right partner who contributes with many first-time experiences to H&M, and yet is undoubtedly a wonderful storyteller.

The collection Erdem x H&M is all about the mix and match! You can see how Victorian style blouse mixes with pajamas, or romantic floral print skirts pairs with casual hoodies. Although this is also the debut of menswear for Erdem Moralioglu, it’s obvious that he made an effort to blur the boundary between men’s and women’s wear. “It’s about this country house that suddenly gets inhabited by all of these young people — girls wearing bias cut dresses and sneakers and boys wearing tuxedos and T-shirts and this wonderful kind of tension and formality and informality,” the designer says.

Instead of sacrificing the quality for mass-produced collaboration, as others may have done in the past, Erdem still worked with many small Italian and Scottish mills, which he already has relationship with, however, it was a premiere for H&M. For sure, the quality of this collection can be highly expected. On the other hand, what concerns me more, and also most of the customers, is the higher price tag.

From where I stand, Erdem X H&M collection is definitely gorgeous and there are many items which are relatively classic and look like they can stand times. However, is it still worthy for the typical H&M customers to spend nearly 300 to buy a coat from this fast fashion brand? Or maybe it is a bargain for purchasing high end products? The answer will be clear after 2nd November, when Erdem X H&M collection is finally available both in stores and online.

But before that, let’s see the Erdem X H&M teaser film by Baz Luhrmann
