Celebrating Diwali away from home!

Moving into a new city on a different continent, interacting and meeting people from all over the world and learning their cultures is one of the most amazing experiences. Coming to Paris from a diverse country like India where you have 29 states, 9 different religions and beliefs and 22 languages, it was easy to adjust and adapt with people coming from all over the world. The one thing I wanted to share with my new friends here was celebrating a festival that brought all of India together – Diwali. The essence and celebrations of Diwali represents the victory of good over evil. It symbolizes the coming together and leaving all our differences behind to pray and bring light, love, and good luck in our lives.

The one thing I love about Diwali is dressing up and wearing our ethnic dresses with a bit of shimmer and a bindi on our forehead. And so we all dressed up on 28th of October for a special celebration with fireworks, dance, music and of course good Indian food.

Below are some images of people from all over the world who had come to Maison de L’Inde all dressed up in their Indian attires.
