L’Homme Jacquemus

All eyes were on Jacquemus as he opened A/W18 Paris Fashion Week at the Petit Palais last Monday, February 26. Though his Marrakesh inspired collection ‘Souk’ spoke volumes, it was the anticipation and excitement of his announcement at the end of the show that made his audience and social media go gaga.

Weeks prior Simon Jacquemus hinted at a “new job” he was about to embark on, immediately rumors started to circulate about whether or not he would be taking over as a creative director for another brand. At the final bow of his show, Jacquemus entered wearing a statement hoodie that read “L’Homme Jacquemus”.

A men’s line was not always on the cards for Simon. His previous collections have always been an ode to his late mother Valerie and as the brand evolved, the designer continued to tap into the world that inspired his greatest inspiration. However, things have changed and it seems as if there’s something new brewing up in his personal life. He has found love with partner Gordon von Steiner, a filmmaker, and photographer, possibly his latest muse and inspiration for the upcoming menswear to debut in June.

As he joins the long list of major labels doing a retail expansion, Jacquemus continues to steadily rise in the industry. He continues to create economically sustainable collections, utilizing social media in the most organic but calculated way, challenging new silhouettes and elevating the basic wardrobe every woman would swoon for. His debut menswear will definitely live up to the brand – that’s what I’m convinced of!
