Interview: End of an Era

Let’s face it, print is dead. Every day, magazines are forced to face a reality where they have to either adapt their strategy for the digital age or start to dig their grave. The most recent obituary we’re reading comes just shy of their 50th birthday — Andy Warhol‘s Interview. The magazine filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and will be folding all operations.

The iconic magazine created by an artist for artists has remained the top spot for all those who love the convergence of fashion, art, and celebrity. Warhol’s brainchild created some of the most iconic covers and nailed some of the most exclusive interviews of the hottest celebrities — their favorite being the one and only Madonna.

While the magazine was a hub for celebrities and artists to collaborate with one another, they’ve clearly failed to capture the modern audience. The last living organism left by Warhol will soon meet him six feet under by the end of 2018.

To honor the iconic magazine, we’ve compiled our favorite covers below featuring frequent Interview cover models like David Bowie, Madonna, Diana Vreeland and the iconic Grace Jones.
