Or at least a sleigh ride was the first thing that came to mind when Prada presented their Spring Summer 2019 collection recently in Milan with oversized ushanka hats adorned atop most of the models’ heads.
While the winter staple may have seemed a bit off for the Spring/Summer reveal, I couldn’t help but overlook the misplaced headwear for the sheer high-quality runway presentation set before my eyes.
Prada didn’t come to play, they came to slay.
In an obvious nod to the 1970s in cut, color, and print, the menswear presentation definitely helped push Prada forward to dominate the industry. For me, I personally loathe the 1970s and everything about it (with the exception of “That 70’s Show” because who doesn’t love Mila Kunis?). But there was something to love about this. While the mood was overall nostalgic, the show stuck out as a leader during this go-around of Men’s Fashion Month. The cohesive collection, distinct color palette, and obvious attention to detail helped maintain Prada as an iconic fashion house with an understanding of history and keeping an eye towards future.
