Paris is Burning: Top 3 things to do this Summer

This is the first time I’ll be seeing Paris in the summertime. And as an eager explorer, my must see and must do list has filled pages and pages of my personal journal. If you’re like me, you’re probably over the usual touristic things to do, so here’s my top three off-the-beaten-path list:

  1. “All-That-Jazz”

Music has been one of my most cathartic expressions and its universality unites people from all different nations. I always find it pleasing to my soul whenever I step out to a concert by my favorite artist or simply stop by street performers and clap along with random strangers. This summer, for four weekends, Paris will be having a jazz festival at Parc Floral. Good news for those who love music but are not willing to spend loads of cash because this is free of charge. Just pack your favorite afternoon snack, some chilled wine and enjoy the century-old music genre.

2. Outdoor Cinema

If I was not working in fashion,  I would probably find myself working in the film industry. The cinematic universe easily takes me to different heights and widens my imagination. I first had the chance to try an outdoor cinema experience while on vacation in Santorini. As the sun was setting, locals came to see the romantic-comedy “You’ve Got Mail”. I had no idea these types of activities still existed and I am ecstatic to know that Paris has an open-air cinema as well. From the 18th of July to the 19th of August, you can watch your favorite classics at the Parc de la Villette.

For short film lovers, check out the week-long Silhouette Festival starting on 24th of August.

3. Beach Please!

If you can’t find time to head to the beach, let the beach come to you! This is a sentiment of how creative Paris can be. The Seine river will be packed with friends and families basking under the summer sun. Get there early so you can grab one of the sunbeds and enjoy a light read and an ice-cold beer or whatever it is you fancy.
